Yoga is great to help us be prepared for the unexpected, the unplanned. Often we assign negative connotations to those things that just pop up. Fear based feelings for the unknown future can often be whisked away, however, with Deep Belly Breathing combined with a meditative mind.
Often wonderful events, little and large, enter our lives without any warning at all. Good things too can bring their own degree of stress however. Yoga breathing works here as well.
For me out of the blue on Thursday morning, I got an urgent request from the folks at HuggerMugger, who make and distribute great yoga gear. They’re introducing a new clothing line for larger ladies and lost their plus-sized model at the last minute. Since they carry my DVD and support my Crossings women’s retreats with goodies, they were hoping I would be able to model for their new catalogue.
So, one moment I’m just a yoga teacher at my desk, and the next, I’m a model! Wasn’t prepared for that at 60 — or any age, really. But, life has its way of bouncing us up and down.
Right away, I’m able to get an appointment
to get my haircut — be prepared as he cut it too short. Next day, watch for FedEx
to deliver the package with clothing and props, be prepared as it came
early. Today, drive to the photographer’s studio, be
prepared to go back home because my mat was still there. Do yoga
postures for Austin photographer Korey Howell —
be prepared to hold, hold,
hold AND smile.
Life — it can take us up and down sometimes even in the same instant. Let yoga help you be prepared for it all, and you’ll find yourself getting more out of life, making the best out of the present — even if at day’s end you find yourself wrapped in nothing but a yog a mat.
I need to know if you still offer the first DVD? I;m interested in getting it, but thought that I should get them in order. my email is granny_eggert@yahoo.com
